Meet our lucky 100 Random Acts of Kindness recipients
27 July 2015
- This is Edinburgh
Back in May, we hit the huge milestone of 100,000 fans on Facebook. To mark the occasion we wanted to say thank you to you, the people of Edinburgh, by performing 100 Random Acts of Kindness. To do this we teamed up with some of our friends and partners around the city to give away fantastic gifts and experiences, including entry to some of Edinburgh's most popular attractions, complementary dinners, overnight stays and spa packages.
The This is Edinburgh team and other city businesses took to the streets and handed out 100 little envelopes to unsuspecting people across the Edinburgh. While we can't list each person individually, we thought we would intoduce you to just some of the recipients we met over the last few weeks.
Nicola and Phillp were enjoying Edinburgh in the sunshine when we surprised them with two passes to use at one of Edinburgh's National Trust of Scotland sites, Gladstone's Land on the Royal Mile or the Georgian House in the New Town. Friends David and Rob were gifted two tickets for Mercat Tours - ideal for Rob who was returning to the city for a visit after moving abroad. Mums Helene and Victoria got a well deserved treat, coffee and cake for Cafe Modern One or Two at the Scottish Gallery of Modern Art.
It wasn't just us that were out and about, lots of businesses across the city got involved and gifted acts of kindness to the good people of Edinburgh. Edinburgh Dungeons gifted a pair of their tickets to musician Morven, while Camera Obscura gave tickets to Dhan Bahadur KC from the Gurkha Cafe. Superhero Kai and his mum Pamela received a well deserved treat from Lateral City - an overnight stay in the luxurious townhouse at the Old Town Chambers. You can find out more about little Kai's "Krusade" here.
We finished off the campaign with a bang by giving lots of acts of kindness to the very deserving nurses and staff at St Columba's Hospice. Anne, Christine, Helen, Caroline, Francis and Angela were just some of the folk who got lovely treats from Edinburgh. We hope you enjoy your gifts!
Thanks again to all who follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Vine. We hugely appreciate the amazing support and interaction we get from you all - it's a big part of what makes #thisisedinburgh. We look forward to continuing to share all that's great and good about our wonderful city with each of you.
