EICC Innovation Lectures

New for 2017, Edinburgh International Conference Centre's public lecture programme has been crafted around the theme of Scotland's Year of History Heritage and Archaeology, in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council and Edinburgh Tourism Action Group (ETAG).

Completely free to attend and covering a range of interesting topics, the series will consist of three lectures in April, May and August.

Each lecture takes place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Innovation Heritage

Tuesday 18 April, 6-8pm

The first lecture of the year takes place on World Heritage Day. Keynote speakers Adam Wilkinson, Director of Edinburgh World Heritage, and Janet Egdell, Operations Director at Registers of Scotland will bring their perspective on Edinburgh's status as a heritage destination.

With 2017 marking the 250th year of Edinburgh's New Town, Adam will talk about the unique place held by Edinburgh on the world heritage stage and the events being held to celebrate the anniversary. 

Janet will highlight Registers of Scotland's work in undertaking a digital transformation to future-proof Scotland's land and property data in part to mark 2017 as the 400th anniversary of the creation of the world's first national land and property register.

Innovation Bridges 

In Bridges

Thursday 25 May, 6-8pm

To coincide with the opening of Queensferry Crossing, Innovation Bridges will highlight the history of the Forth Bridges and the latest innovations used in constructing the new bridge.

Speaking at Innovation Bridges is Frank Hay of The Briggers, and Alan Platt, Construction Director for Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors.

Innovation Robotics will take place in June ahead of UK Robotics Week.  We look forward to welcoming keynote speakers from Heriot-Watt University and the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics - Professor Ruth Aylett and Dr Thusha Rajendran.

Innovation Festivals

Tuesday 1 August, 6-8pm

Innovation Festivals will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Festival Directors Fergus Linehan, Shona McCarthy and Ken Hay will come together to talk about the history and future plans of their respective festivals just days before the start of the Edinburgh International Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
