2017 MagicFest Highlights

Edinburgh International Magic Festival Secret Room

The Secret Room

Celebrating the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017, MagicFest have teamed up with Scottish Historic Buildings Trust, Museums and Galleries Edinburgh and Edinburgh World Heritage to expand their famous sell-out magic spectacular 'The Secret Room'. A series of 20 shows will bring three of Edinburgh's unique historical venues and their untold mysteries to life with these captivating magic tours - get ready to see Riddle's Court, The Writers' Museum and Lauriston Castle like you have never seen them before. From the Dark

This new event for 2017 is a show which was originally designed for the blind, and invites both sighted and non-sighted audiences to experience the world's only illusion show performed in complete darkness. Once blindfolded and guided to your seat, you will experience sensory-stimulation which will awaken your imagination and force your judgement to work against you to create deceptions of the mind. Magic as you have never "seen" it before!

MagicFair

The 2017 festival returns to the hub of Summerhall for the famous three-day MagicFair, taking place from 30th June - 2nd July with over 80 magic shows and 20 of the greatest illusionists around the world. This celebration of magic guarantees a spellbinding day out for all ages, with Morning, Afternoon and Lates sessions. Expect to find workshops, short live shows, magic shops and much more.

Magic School & Workshops

Young budding magicians can also take part in the 5-day Magic School at Quaker Meeting House from 3rd to 7th July. Learn, create and perform your own magic at a whirlwind 2.5-hour workshop. At the end of the hard work, you can look forward to a magical graduation ceremony for family on the final day.

Magic and Variety Gala Show

Don't miss out on the closing Gala on the 8th July, which is always a huge hit. This year's 'Levitations' themed show will see the greatest illusionists and circus acts from around the world defy the laws of gravity and perform visually stunning and dreamlike flights of fancy as they float, fly and soar through the air. An absolute must-see this summer.
