It's Alive!

This summer, the Museum of Childhood hosts a marvellous cast of clockwork characters. In their cabinet of wonders, see astonishing automata from the last two centuries. This interactive exhibition includes lots of moving parts - pish the buttons and see machines come to life before your very eyes.

Meet a breathing beauty who has long outlived her creator, and a violinist who plays his hundred-year old tune. In this exhibition you'll also find Pneuma: The Mechanical Egg - a spectacular series of etchings by the artist Robert Powell that explores the history, mythology and ideas connected to automata.

There will also be live House of Automata performances in July and August. Find out more on the Museums and Galleries Edinburgh website
