Supawan is studying for a PhD in Nursing at QMU after spending 14 years as a paediatric nurse at Nakhon Sawan Hospital in Thailand. She secured her place at QMU after receiving a scholarship from the Thai government and finding out about the University through a higher education agent in Thailand.
Supawan is undertaking her PhD through the Division of Nursing and the Institute for Global Health and Development at QMU. The title of her research is ‘Experiences of family carers caring for their preschool-age children with haematological diseases in Thailand’. After completing her PhD at QMU in 2017, Supawan hopes to take up a nursing lecturer position at Nakhon Sawan Nursing College, where she will use the knowledge, experience and skills acquired at QMU to help inspire and teach the next generation of nursing students in Thailand.
Supawan lives near the Usher Hall in Edinburgh city centre and really enjoys the convenient location for public transport links, cultural venues and restaurants. She was drawn to the welcoming and multi-cultural environment on offer in Edinburgh, as well as QMU’s friendly, purpose-built campus.
