Edinburgh International Children's Festival

Edinburgh International Children's Festival is Scotland’s international festival of performing arts for children and young people, running from Saturday 25th May to Sunday 2nd June 2019 at various venues across Edinburgh.

A variety of lively performances and companies will be showcased throughout the week which will aim to spark the imaginations of young and old. 

Edinburgh International Children's Festival Highlights

This year Edinburgh International Children's Festival proudly present 15 productions coming from 8 different countries from around the globe, including Denmark, Germany and Australia. The performances throughout the festival are a various mix of genres and themes.

The activities and performances takes place in 10 different venues around the city including Traverse Theatre, Southside Community Centre and the Warehouse in Leith. 

This festival is perfect for families as it boasts a full range of shows suitable for very small children up to teenagers. Truly something for everyone with a varied programme of theatre, dance, multi-media and puppetry curated by Festival Director Noel Jordan. 

The Opening Weekend

The festival will open with a big family weekend at the National Museum of Scotland with free drop-in events throughout the building including live music, pop-up performances, storytelling, hands-on arts activities and more.
