In 1985 Kate Downie discovered the Forth Bridges for her first solo exhibition in Edinburgh, and has since created many prints, paintings and large drawings which examine not only the extraordinary man-made structures but also the spirit of human migration.

In 2014 she became Artist in Residence as a part of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Forth Road Bridge, where, based from her onsite ‘portacabin’ studio she was able to capture the beauty of these mighty structures.

In this free online talk, she will discuss the appeal of the bridges from an artistic point of view.

This virtual lecture be run online on Microsoft Teams; booking is essential as attendees will be sent joining instructions a day or so beforehand
