 Life On The Forth

From Portobello in the east to South Queensferry in the west, Life on the Forth reveals how objects in the museum’s collections reflect the history and heritage of communities on the Forth.

Join Curator Anna MacQuarrie and Outreach & Access Manager Diana Morton as they share some of their personal insights and experiences of working with collections related to Edinburgh’s coastal communities.

Discover tales of fisherfolk, sailors, engineers and remarkable local history, from Portobello’s heyday as a holiday resort, to the major role Leith has played in the history of Scottish distilling.

Part of Auld Reekie Retold, a major 3-year project from Museums and Galleries Edinburgh, this exhibition showcases stories and objects that aim to spark conversations and reveal hidden histories of Edinburgh’s past.
