National Treasure: The Scottish Modern Arts Association
- 01 June 2022 - 16 October 2022
- Free entry. Donations welcome
- City Art Centre
Presented as part of Edinburgh Art Festival 2022, this major exhibition celebrates Scottish art at the dawn of modernism.

Founded in Edinburgh in 1907, The Scottish Modern Arts Association was established by artists and their supporters with the aim of securing for the nation a collection of contemporary Scottish art.
For more than 50 years they successfully acquired a number of art works, amassing an outstanding collection of over 300 paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures. When the association was dissolved in 1964 the majority of the collection was transferred to the City of Edinburgh, where they are now maintained by the City Art Centre.
Running from 21 May - 16 Oct 2022, National Treasure: The Scottish Modern Arts Association explores the story of this unique collection and the artists whose work is represented. Viewers will be able to see and enjoy a wide variety of works by renowned artists, including William McTaggart, John Duncan, Anne Redpath and Joan Eardley, as well as collective works by leading groups such as the Glasgow Boys and the Scottish Colourists.
This exhibition is free to attend. Donations welcome.
