Scottish Opera presents Mascagni's Silvano

Mascagni’s Silvano has all the hard-hitting drama of his celebrated Cavalleria rusticana. It revels in a tender yet powerful score that features the Barcarolle famously used in Scorsese’s Raging Bull. The passionate seafaring tale centres on the rivalry of two fishermen and a doomed love triangle that ends in disaster, death and despair.

Silvano V2

A glittering line-up of soloists – including acclaimed soprano Emma Bell, tenor Alexey Dolgov (Iolanta 2017), baritone David Stout (Edgar 2018) and mezzo-soprano Leah-Marian Jones (Rusalka 2016) – join The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, chorus and Music Director Stuart Stratford in this semi-staged performance to give Silvano its long-overdue Scottish premiere.

Running time approx. 1 hr 50 mins | Sung in Italian with English supertitles | Opera in concert
