For whisky fans, the month of May means one thing and one thing only - Whisky Month! To commemorate this special month we have rounded up some of the best things to do in Edinburgh where you can enjoy a dram or two. From ghost tours, materclasses and whisky tastings, there are plenty of options for whisky connoisseurs and novices alike!
Enjoy a Dram at the Angels Share
Situated in Edinburgh’s West End, Angels Share is a thriving hotel, bar & restaurant. The name itself refers to the small amount of alcohol that evaporates out of whisky barrels during fermentation. To celebrate International Whisky Month, they’ve teamed up with local whisky experts and retailers – Jeffrey Street Whisky. Expect a crafted and unique whisky tasting tour in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town. Discover the secrets of Edinburgh’s illicit stills, and delve into the history of our national drink as you explore over 400 years of whisky production in Scotland. Learn about the origins of the ‘usque baugh’ and why Mary King’s Close was at the centre of a thriving and bustling trade. Follow in the footsteps of a former resident as you journey back in time, and explore the rooms, streets, and spaces underneath Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile.

Whisky Celebration at Britannia
This Whisky month The Royal Yacht Britannia is raising a glass with Britannia’s own 20th anniversary Whisky. Marking the 20 years since the arrival of The Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith, Edinburgh, this incredible Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky was hand selected from a single cask for The Royal Yacht Britannia Gift Shop. With hints of strawberries and cream, sweet barley and vanilla on the nose, taste a touch of sweet orange with soft butterscotch and honey on the palate. This limited edition Whisky finishes with brown sugar, sultanas and vanilla.

Tamdhu Whisky Tasting at Cannonball House

Complimentary whisky tasting held at the Cannonball Restaurant & Bar, hosted by their whisky ambassador Gordon Dallas. Join for a drop in tasting session of Tamdhu Whisky on Thursday 16th May between 5.30 and 7pm, where Gordon will host a complimentary informal tutored tasting of their classic 10yo as well as two new exciting releases; Tamdhu 15yo and Batch Strength No 4. The very best whisky doesn’t happen by accident. Explore the incredible history of Tamdhu’s precious spirit and discover why after over a century, they’re still going strong.
