Taking place on the evening of 13 June 2025, guests will be able to enjoy a pint of cask-conditioned Lawless Village IPA (4.5% ABV) – a copper-coloured, aromatic beer brewed in the spirit of a traditional American IPA – all while taking in the atmospheric John’s Coffee House & Tavern.
Founded in 1688, John’s Coffee House and Tavern was a lively hub of intellectual discussion and social debate. It is said that some of the most influential ideas of the Enlightenment were born here, with a coffee or ale in hand. Reopened in March 2025, the historic details of this coffee house have been refurbished, staying true to Edinburgh’s 17th century coffee house and taverns.
The cask opening itself is a performance — lively, loud, and full of ritual — and your ticket includes your first pint from the freshly tapped barrel.
