Mortonhall Caravan & Camping Park

Set within 200 acres of countryside and just 4 miles from the centre of Edinburgh, Mortonhall Caravan & Camping Park offers a variety of year-round 4-star accommodation.

Touring caravans, motorhomes and tents can all set up home in the spacious pitches, with the option of grass to full service pitches. Caravan holiday homes accommodating up to 8 people are also available for hire.

The cosy and comfortable Wigwams are a great choice for those who fancy glamping. Each comes with a number of home-from-home comforts, including electric heating, mini fridge/freezer, kettle and microwave. Or for something a bit more compact, the charming Shepherd’s Huts sleep 2-3 people and feature a king size mattress with super king duvet, micro kitchen with Belfast sink, a living flame fire and cosy fireside chairs.

Guests can also make use of the site’s toilet and shower blocks with underfloor heating, well stocked licensed shop, fully equipped laundry and kitchen facilities and Stable Bar & Restaurant.

Dalkeith Country Park

If you’re looking for a summer campsite that offers a back-to-basics experience, Dalkeith Country Park could be the perfect location.

Set next to the woodland of Dalkeith Country Park, small, medium and large camping pitches are available, with toilet and shower block with washing-up facilities.

Campers also benefit from discounted entry into the park’s Fort Douglas adventure playground and Go Ape treetop trails – perfect for a family adventure.

Dalkeith Country Park Campsite is open during the summer only. It is not suitable for campervans or caravans.

Slatebarns Caravan Park

Chapel Loan, Roslin, Edinburgh, EH25 9PU

The family-run Slatebarns Caravan Park is a small touring caravan/motorhome park close to the popular visitor attraction Rosslyn Chapel.

 

Hardstanding or grass pitches – all with electric hook-ups – are available, as well as a heated toilet block and disabled toilet and shower. The site is close to the wooded and tranquil Roslin Glen.

A 5 minute walk leads to Roslin’s main street and the family-friendly The Original Rosslyn Inn, which offers an extensive and changing menu, while Lothian Buses route 37 runs a regular service into Edinburgh city centre.

Drummohr Camping & Glamping Site

Drummohr Holiday Park, Levenhall, Musselburgh, Edinburgh, EH21 8JS

On the shores of the picturesque East Lothian coast, Drummohr Camping & Glamping Site provides a variety of touring, camping, glamping, lodges and luxury self-catering accommodation in a secluded and peaceful setting.

Originally the walled garden of a monastery, guests can soak up the tranquil atmosphere in one of the site’s hardstanding and grass touring and camping pitches, glamping pods or holiday lodges (some of which have private hot tubs).

On site, there is also a small shop, children’s playground, an amenity block with laundry and book exchange.

With pitches for camping and touring (all with electric hook-ups), static caravans and luxury lodges, Linwater Caravan Park offer a great selection of family-friendly accommodation.

4 miles from Edinburgh Airport, it is an ideal base for exploring both Edinburgh and neighbouring West Lothian, while the rolling hills of nearby Almondell & Calderwood Country Park provide the perfect place for a woodland walk.

Guest amenities include a small shop, heated showers with changing area, fully accessible wash room with baby changing area, indoor kitchen with dish washing, hobs, microwave and seating area, outdoor dish-washing area, laundry room and play park.

Beecraigs Caravan & Camping Site

Beecraigs Country Park, Linlithgow, EH49 6PL

Also in West Lothian, and set within the 913 acres of Beecraigs Country Park, is Beecraigs Caravan & Camping Site.

26 hardstanding pitches with electric hook-ups are available for caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents. A separate grass camping area for tents is open from Easter to October. For glampers, there are two Little Lodges, which come equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave and kettle.

Guests are also welcome to make use of the site’s laundry, dishwashing room, shower rooms, picnic tables and children’s play area.

Hilly Cow Wigwams

Leyden Farm, Kirknewton, West Lothian, EH27 8DQ

Situated on a working farm 10 miles from Edinburgh, Hilly Cow Wigwams offer all the fun of camping, but with a bit more luxury.

Overlooking the Forth Valley and Pentland Hills, take in the peaceful surroundings, all while enjoying the view from a cosy wigwam. Standard, ensuite and deluxe versions are available, the latter of which has a hob, microwave kettle, toaster, TV and DVD player.

A heated toilet and shower block, accessible bathroom (with hand trails, lower sinks and stools) BBQ hire, kitchen diner with cutlery and crockery, drying room, games room and children’s play area are also onsite.
