Orienteering at Craigmillar Castle Park

Orienteering is an adventure sport that exercises both body and mind. Using a map, the aim is to find the best way round a set of check-points to get them all, in the right order - as a race competing with others or as an individual challenge. You choose whether to run, jog or walk. It’s a lot of fun for all ages and abilities – with a choice of courses of different lengths and challenge, there's something for everyone.

Come along and try it at Craigmillar Castle Park where there is a set of permanent course markers to find using free maps available from Interlopers Orienteering Club. There are courses of different lengths and challenge. You can download course-map .pdfs for free from our website, or from the Go Orienteering portal (https://goorienteering.org.uk/).

There are a number of other permanent orienteering courses to enjoy around Edinbrugh, e.g., at Braidburn Valley Park. Interlooers also holds regular open-to-all events in location around the city, including at Craigmillar Castle Park, and other areas such as Colinton Dell. Courses typically range from 1-6km, with options for beginners as well as more experienced orienteers. Club volunteers are very happy to support newcomers so come and talk to us at an event or get in touch by email or social media. We have a programme of club training and social events, as well as actively participating in orienteering competitions all over the country - new members are always welcome.
