Uncover sides of Edinburgh only locals see through an exclusive city tour run by local residents and top tips from city ambassadors.
Stay Like a Local invites you to experience Edinburgh beyond the greatest hits, through the eyes of the people who know the city best. It’s all about the hidden gems; the everyday places locals frequent, neighbourhood culture and the wide variety of stays across the city. This is an invitation to look closer and connect more deeply with the city beyond the guidebook.
Brand-new exclusive Edinburgh tour
We’re so excited to be partnering with Invisible Cities to create an exclusive new walking tour showcasing the best lesser-known spots Edinburgh has to offer. Founded in the city, Invisible Cities is a social enterprise that creates ethical walking tours and teaches people who have experienced homelessness to become tour guides in their own city.
The Stay Like a Local guided walking tour highlights off-the-beaten-path locations, stories and everyday places loved by locals, offering visitors a deeper and more meaningful connection with the city. Guides share stories such as Whitefoord House on the Canongate, an 18th century mansion that later became a print foundry before evolving into the city’s first residence for veterans, alongside hidden spaces like Dunbar’s Close Garden, a secluded pocket garden inspired by 17th century design and Patrick Geddes’ vision for green spaces in the Old Town.
Stay Like a Local guided walking tours begin on 23 February 2026. Find out more and book on the Invisible Cities website.
