Performed by Scottish Ballet and featuring glittering sets and costumes, the classic fairytale arrives at Festival Theatre Edinburgh this January.
The action opens at the beginning of the 20th century in Cinders’ family-run department store. All is well until tragedy strikes, leaving Cinders an orphan and the business in the hands of the cruel Mrs Thorne and her three horrific children.
At the announcement of the Royal Ball, excitement ensues as the Thornes get ready to attend the event of the year. Banished from the fun, Cinders takes refuge in the enchanted rose garden and is magically transformed into a thing of beauty.
In a twist to the traditional tale, audiences to this show are in for a surprise. As the curtain rises each night, Cinders will either be revealed as a woman, swept off her feet by her Prince, or a man, swept off his feet by his Princess.
An audio description performance and touch tour take place on 13 January. There will be a relaxed performance on 18 January. Find more details and book tickets on Scottish Ballet’s Cinders!
