Renowned for its award-winning soloists and magnificent corps de ballet, the company has been delighting audiences for decades at home and abroad with its performances of the highest quality.

As part of their 2025 tour, Varna International Ballet will be entertaining audiences in Edinburgh in January with three captivating shows:

Romeo and Juliet

A couple on stage. The female wears a white dress with gold embroidery, and leans into the chest of the man, who is standing behind her.

The world’s greatest love story has everything – star-crossed lovers, duels and bitter family feuds. Shakespeare’s timeless tale is brought to life by Prokofiev’s magnificent score, alongside an emotionally charged choreography. See Varna International Ballet – Romeo and Juliet on 16 January 2025.

Swan Lake

2 dancers on stage, female wears a white tutu and is being supported by male partner as she reaches one arm into the air.

Experience Tchaikovsky’s haunting and unforgettable score in the romantic ballet, Varna International Ballet – Swan Lake. From the impressive splendour of the Palace ballroom to the moon-lit lake where swans glide in perfect formation, this is a beautiful performance not to be missed. Catch it on 17 January 2025.

The Nutcracker

As midnight strikes on Christmas Eve, get swept away to a fairy-tale world where nothing is quite as it seems. Toy dolls spring to life, the Mouse-king and his mouse-army battle with the Nutcracker Prince and travel through the Land of Snow to an enchanted place where the magic really begins. See Varna International Ballet – The Nutcracker on 18 January 2025.

If travelling to the theatre by public transport, Lothian Buses services 1, 5, 7, 14, 34, 49 all serve the area on a regular basis. Edinburgh Trams stop, Picardy Place is a short walk away.
