Hendersons Eat Better - Live Better is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant located in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh. The restaurant follows an ethos of healthy and wholesome food that is made from scratch by their talented team of chefs. This means, they are using locally sourced whole foods, as well as ethically sourced and organic ingredients as much as possible. Their menu is accessible enough for everyone to enjoy but also contains plenty of options for people with specific dietary requirements.

The restaurant was opened in October 2021 by Barrie Henderson and while this is not that long ago, there is a lot more history to this restaurant than it might appear. Barrie Henderson is the grandson of Janet Henderson, who opened the iconic Hendersons basement restaurant in 1963 that had to close in 2020 due to the pandemic. Up until this point, the original Hendersons was the UK’s longest running vegetarian restaurant. Hendersons works with local and Scottish suppliers, for example Coeur Sauvage for foraged ingredients, Mossgiel Farm for ethical and organic dairy products, Alliance Wine for vegan and organic wines, Cairn O’Mohr for Scottish fruit wines, Company Baker (Supreme Bread Champion, Scottish Bread Championship 2023) for award-winning bread and Greencity, for ethical sourced food and drink. They also grow edible flowers and herbs in their wee back garden that they like to use as much as possible.
