Valvona & Crolla has established an unrivalled reputation as a treasure trove of fabulous food and wine, sourcing from the best Scottish suppliers as well as the finest Italian delicacies. Founded by Alfonso Crolla in 1934, it is renowned today for having some of the best selections of quality food and wine in the United Kingdom.

Still an independent family business, Philip, Mary and Francesca and Olivia Contini’s intrinsic knowledge of food and wine has been handed down from their peasant forebears over hundreds of years.

They source all their products from small, artisan producers and farmers, who, like them, are committed to selling, pure, flavoursome produce to excite the palate and nourish the body. They import fresh fruit and vegetables direct from the market in Milano, Italy each week. In the shop you will also find homemade cakes and biscuits, an extensive range of cheese, champagne, cookery books, coffee, tea, kitchenware, pasta, rice, salami, sausages, oil, vinegar, port, dessert wine, whisky and wine - lots of wine!

From market stall to dot com, they supply the entire UK with an efficient, speedy delivery system that boasts a next-day service to 90% of the population. They hold wine tastings and dinner events in their Caffè Bar & Restaurant throughout the year, and also have an gift room which is converted into a 70 seat theatre every August to become a venue in the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival.
