June marks Pride month, and Edinburgh will be hosting a variety of events that highlight the city’s rich queer history and commitment to inclusivity.
Here’s a look at some of the standout Pride events and experiences that make this year’s celebrations truly special.

Porty Pride
Based in Portobello, Edinburgh’s seaside town, Porty Pride are an intergenerational, intersectional, accessible community-run pride.
From film nights and workshops to sporting events and discos, Porty Pride will be running a bumper programme of events.

Pride History Tours
Throughout June, The Real Mary King’s Close delve into Edinburgh’s LGBTQIA+ history from the mid 1500’s until 1912 with Pride History Tours.
Discover figures like Robert Fergusson, the poet who inspired Robert Burns, and Marie Maitland, whose Sapphic poetry may be one of the earliest examples in Early Modern Europe. Led by costumed character guides, this hour-long tour invites guests to reimagine Edinburgh’s past through a new lens – one filled with resilience, creativity, and connection.
Pride History Tours run every Saturday in June 2025, starting at 4pm and 5.30pm.

Pride Edinburgh
In March 1995 Edinburgh hosted Scotland’s first ever Pride march. 2025 marks Pride Edinburgh’s 30th anniversary, and Scotland’s longest running celebration of diversity.
This year’s festivities include The Pride Edinburgh March, commencing at the Scottish Parliament at the bottom of the Royal Mile, passing through Canongate, George IV Bridge, Lothian Street and Potterrow, before finishing at The Pride Edinburgh Festival Village on Bristo Square. It’s here that Edinburgh drag queen Blaze will take to the stage to host an exciting concert, with guests including headliner, Diana Vickers, Grammy-nominated Kelli-Leigh and Drag Race UK finalist Ellie Diamond, as well as DJ sets from Sylva, Darran Glasgow and Lezzer Quest. The concert, which has free entry, runs from 2pm to 6pm.
Pride Edinburgh takes place on 21 June 2025.

Pride Breakfast
Just a short distance from where the Pride Edinburgh March sets off from, Pride Breakfast takes place at Dynamic Earth.
Perfect for fuelling up beforehand, as well as breakfast (while stocks last), the morning will include climate craft activities and a performance from Ivy Big Band.
Tickets are free (with donations welcome) and should be registered in advance online.

Pride Sports Day
Join Edinburgh University Sports Union for a day of free sports, including football, climbing, boccia, pickle ball, and self-defence.
Pride Sports Day is open to everyone, takes place at the Pleasance Games Hall and is free to attend. The afternoon will be split up into several sessions, so you can try everything. Pre-registration is required.

West Lothian Pride
If you fancy an away-day, Edinburgh’s regional neighbour hosts West Lothian Pride on 26 July 2025.
The day will feature a Pride March and afternoon of entertainment in Livingston’s Howden Park Centre, comprising drag, burlesque, comedy, magic, and vocal talent, as well as a performance by Pixie Polite, star of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK series 4.
Lighthouse Books
Located on West Nicholson Street, Lighthouse Books is a queer-owned and woman-led independent bookshop.
As well as offering a mass of title across a wide range of genres (including queer, intersectional feminism, politics, history, fiction and travel), they also run a year round program of events (available in-person and online). See the full programme on their events page.
Edinburgh LGBTQ+ history walking tour
Uncovering tales from Edinburgh’s past, join guide Hannah Mackay Tait for a 90 minute walking tour of the city’s LGBTQ+ history.
Scotland with Hannah’s Edinburgh’s Queer History revel everything from 17th century royal love stories to ground-breaking lesbian doctors in the Victoria era.
Tours are currently available to book as a private tour.
