This is an outdoor event, involving walking or wheeling down fairly steep streets, some with cobbles. There will be no steps.

Join us for an event in partnership with Audacious Women Festival to Celebrate Edinburgh900: City of Ideas.

The Enlightenment may be seen mainly as a male phenomenon, but women were there too!  Join tour guide Ruth Boreham to hear about writers, painters, botanists, scientists, philosophers, a cookery teacher who published the first ever ‘standard’ Haggis recipe in Scotland, a club just for women, and much more.

Starting on Castle Esplanade you will wind your way down the Lawnmarket, onto the High Street, down the Mound and finish in the New Town near the Assembly Rooms on George Street. We are delighted to collaborate with Audacious Women Festival for this event.

This tour will take approximately 2 hours.  Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring rainwear. This tour will be step-free.
