In 2024, Edinburgh marked 900 years since becoming a royal burgh – a truly historic milestone in the life of our incredible city. To honour this momentous occasion, Capella Edina is proud to host an unforgettable evening of music in aid of the One City Trust, which works to tackle inequality and exclusion in our capital.

Join us for “Celebrate Edinburgh 900”, a joyful concert featuring a programme of music that bridges tradition and celebration. Enjoy the sweeping beauty of works by the infamous Strauss family, including The Beautiful Blue Danube and the Radetzky March, alongside beloved Scottish tunes like Highland Cathedral and The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond.

We are thrilled to welcome young folk pianist Amy Laurenson – BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2023 – along with several other exceptional guest performers.

This special evening will be hosted by the Rt Hon Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh – and with your presence, we will come together to show that we are all part of one city, one Edinburgh.

The orchestra operates under the motto “United by Passion for Music” and this exemplifies its mission of making orchestral music more accessible and bringing people from all different backgrounds together to share the joy of music.

Capella Edina is presenting a number of concerts at the Usher Hall with music ranging from the “Enigma” Variations to collaborations that showcase Scottish traditions – there is certainly something for everyone.
