The main entrance has one step. Due to the historic nature of the building, there is no lift and no ramp. There is level access from the main entrance to the Information desk, ground floor toilets and courtyard. Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the building, the upper levels are accessible by stairs only. Some parts of the venue have low lighting. There is a public toilet for disabled visitors

Journey through two centuries of firefighting legacy with our special exhibition created in partnership with the Museum of Scottish Fire Heritage. From its humble beginnings in 1824 to the modern-day achievements as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, explore the remarkable history, stories, and contributions of Edinburgh’s Fire Service.
We welcome visitors to our nine major visitor attractions: the City Art Centre; Lauriston Castle; Museum of Childhood; Museum of Edinburgh; Nelson Monument; People’s Story; Queensferry Museum; Scott Monument and Writers’ Museum.
We house rich and varied collections relating to the historical and cultural life of Scotland’s Capital. Our venues also boast an exciting and vibrant programme of events and exhibitions, offering something for everyone to enjoy.
