This is an outdoor walking tour of the Old Town, and as such will involve cobbled streets, steps, and hills which may be challenging for some visitors. There will be no toilet stops available during the tour, but facilities will be available at Museum on the Mound before the tour begins and at the end of the tour.

Join Gillian from Museum on the Mound for a look back through the economic history of Edinburgh. When King David I brought the Royal Burgh system to Scotland in 1124 it was to change the landscape of Edinburgh forever, bringing new advancements, people, and prosperity to the land. Learn about the early merchants of the burgh, chart the changes that led to the foundation of Scotland’s first bank Bank of Scotland in 1695, and discover some of the hidden stories waiting to be retold in celebration of the 900th anniversary of our city. The tour is an outdoor walking tour of Edinburgh’s Old Town and lasts approximately 1.5 hours.

The tour will run on every Wednesday in October at 2pm (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th) and at 2pm on Saturday 5th and 12th.
