To mark Edinburgh’s 900-year anniversary and honor its rich tapestry of cultural diversity, we are organizing a series of six creative workshops of 2 hours. These workshops aim to celebrate the city’s vibrant international community, particularly focusing on the South West area, where we are based (Gorgie), an area known for its multicultural dynamism. Additionally, in recognition of the 150th anniversary of the Gorgie-based Heart of Midlothian Football Club, commonly known as Hearts, one of these workshops will spotlight the club’s diverse player roster, which currently includes 57% foreign players.

Each of the six creative workshops will highlight different aspects of Edinburgh’s international community, providing a platform for residents to share their cultural heritage, foster intercultural dialogue, and strengthen community ties. These workshops will include:
1 Art and Craft Workshop
2 Culinary Workshop
3 Music and Dance Workshop
4 Storytelling Workshop
5 Language Exchange Workshop
6 Hearts Anniversary Workshop

Art and Spirituality CIC

Art and Spirituality CIC is a creative and healing centre with a yoga studio and therapy room, connected to a welcoming cafe. It became a social enterprise in August 2022 to offer creative arts, mental and physical activities to the residents of Gorgie-Dalry, Edinburgh. Activities at the centre include art workshops, exhibitions, therapies and classes in yoga, meditation, dance, coaching, stress management and more.

Led by a volunteer team of three passionate ethnic minority women, we support inclusion and diversity. Thanks to our proactive engagement with our international community (75%) and our strong local partnerships, we have so far welcomed 10,930 participants (90% women) to 1779 classes and therapies. Our mission is not only to improve mental, emotional and physical well-being, but also to cultivate a non-judgmental sense of belonging, amplifying underrepresented voices.

“Spirituality” implies personal growth and inner development focused on improving individual well-being, and is not associated with “religion”.
