“Music for a while — songs of love and resilience” is a concert that celebrates the transformative power of the arts and creativity in achieving and maintaining our wellbeing. Staff members, friends and service-users of Multi-Cultural Family Base are paired with Harmony Choir to deliver a repertoire of familiar tunes.

Multi-Cultural Family Base (MCFB) is a charity based in Leith, Edinburgh, which has spent the past 26 years promoting the wellbeing and life opportunities of marginalised children, young people and families of ethnically diverse backgrounds.
Harmony Choir is a not-for-profit 4-part harmony group led by musical director Ben Jones. It was set up in 2016 as part of a research project run by the University of Edinburgh, studying the effect of being in a choir on wellbeing, enjoyment and mental health. The choir is still going strong today, adding value to members’ lives.

MCFB has been supporting BAME families in Edinburgh for 26 years. We and generations of our service users grow with Edinburgh, the capital city that has a long history of providing refuge for people who are dispersed due to persecution and hardships. MCFB walks alongside people from very diverse backgrounds and supports them in finding their position and voice in their new lives in Edinburgh.
