Edinburgh Renaissance Band

Edinburgh Renaissance band logo
The Edinburgh Renaissance Band gives you a taste of the music of the early days of the newly created “Royal Burgh”, right in the heart of the Old Town. It has been a popular part of Edinburgh’s musical heritage for just over fifty years, and is one of the longest continuously performing groups with the same players – quite possibly the longest – on the Festival Fringe.

We perform with around a dozen members playing every kind of period
instrument from our collection of over 125, including cornetts, sackbuts, serpent, natural trumpets, oxhorn, viols, violins, rebecs, harps, citole, shawms, curtals, cornemuse, crumhorns, recorders, gemshorns and more, with varied percussion, joined by voices.
