This online event celebrates the arrival of two striking new portraits of trailblazing women in surgery, commissioned for the permanent collections of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Imogen Gibbon, Deputy Director and Chief Curator of Portraiture at the National Galleries of Scotland, will lead a conversation with artists Grace Payne-Kumar and Kirstin MacKinnon, whose recent commissions honour the achievements and presence of women in the field.

These portraits mark a step toward a more inclusive reflection of both the surgical and art sector—and a powerful moment of visibility for the women shaping its future.
