Bridgend has always been a working farm, supplying Edinburgh with food right up to the year 2000. Now, the 18th century farmhouse is a community centre where we stage a Christmas Fair every year. This year it will be a celebration of farming through the ages. Enjoy our exhibition, story-telling, lantern-making, traditional farmyard games and market stalls.

On 17 December we will host a ceilidh for everyone, with stovies and mulled wine (see separate listing for the ceilidh).

Bridgend Farmhouse

Bridgend Farmhouse logo
Bridgend has always been a farm steading. It was part of the Inch Estate which goes back to the Gilmour and Preston families who owned the 14th century Craigmillar Castle. It was a working farm till the year 2000. The 18th century farmhouse has been completely restored by an independent community organisation and is now a community centre running a wide range of activities. We have a training kitchen and cafe, woodwork and craft work shops, an allotment project, a bike repair business and regular public events, the Christmas Fair being one of them.

On Sunday 1 December we will be staging a farming-through-the-ages exhibition, running traditional farmyard games, and a ceilidh will be held in the evening in our large tent.
