Pumpkin picking in Edinburgh

Have a day out pumpkin picking in Edinburgh’s countryside this autumn.

Just in time for Halloween, there are several places in the Lothians offering the chance to go pumpkin picking. Choose your favourite, take it home and create a scary creation, then use the rest to make a tasty winter soup!


Craigies Farm

Well-known for producing a wide range of pick-your-own fruit and veg throughout the year, the pumpkin fields at Craigies Farm in South Queensferry will be open for the month of October.

Tickets are released weekly, depending on availability, and can be booked online.


Balgone Estate

As Scotland’s largest pumpkin patch, not only does Balgone Estate at North Berwick have a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, but it also has a 2km haunted trail with all kinds of ghoulish creatures.

Don’t forgot to stop by the witches’ Crooked Cauldron for some toasted marshmallows.

Pumpkins bookings can be made for 14 to 29 October and should be pre-booked online.


Kilduff Farm

Just 30 minutes’ drive from Edinburgh, Kilduff Farm’s Pumpkin Festival runs from 14 to 29 October.

Sessions for children and adults with additional support needs take place on 16 and 20 October. Aiming to have a calm environment, these sessions will have lower visitor numbers, staff available to help if required, sheltered seating areas and welcome guide dogs and assistance dogs. Kilduff Farm are also working with Beach Wheelchairs NB to provide one adult wheelchair and two junior wheelchair on the pumpkin patch for the duration of the festival. Please email lucy@kilduff.co.uk if you would like more information on how to access one of these chairs during your visit.

For the younger family members, there is the Little Pumpkin Picker sessions. Specifically designed for under 5’s, these sessions will be held on 13, 24 and 27 October and will take place in an enclosed pumpkin patch where wee pickers can enjoy fun and games.


Conifox Adventure Park

As part of Conifox Adventure Park’s Halloween Day’s Festival, pumpkin picking is just one of the Halloween activities on offer.

Pick your perfect pumpkin and create a spooky masterpiece, before seeing if you can find all the mysterious creatures hidden around the park Spooky Trail. If you’ve got any energy left, you can then race around the pedal go-kart track, bounce on our giant jump pillow or have a game of footgolf course in the outdoor Adventure Park.

Halloween Days take place on selected days from 14 to 29 October. pre-booking required.


East Links Family Park

Pay a visit to popular 20 acre farm-themed, East Links Family Park in Dunbar this Halloween and not only can you visit a haunted house and take part in a fancy dress competition, but every visiting child will be given a free pumpkin. Take a seat at the carving station and let the creative juice flow…

The Pumpkin Festival runs from 14 – 31 October. Tickets should be purchased in advance online.
