Have a day out pumpkin picking in Edinburgh’s countryside this autumn.
Just in time for Halloween, there are several places in the Lothians offering the chance to go pumpkin picking. Choose your favourite, take it home and create a scary creation, then use the rest to make a tasty winter soup!
Dalkeith Country Park
The Curiously Creepy Pumpkin Patch at Dakeith Country Park will be bursting with fun for those brave enough to enter!
Discover what lurks beneath the pumpkin patch as the ancient undercroft of The Orangerie is opened. Then, take your wheelbarrow and browse for the perfect pumpkin to take home and carve into a masterpiece.
For families who would prefer a quieter environment, ASN sessions will run on 14 and 17 October at 3pm and 4pm. These will have reduced capacity, extra team members on hand, a sheltered seating area and accessible parking spaces close to the patch.
The Pumpkin Patch is open from 12 to 27 October 2024.
Craigies Farm
Well-known for producing a wide range of pick-your-own fruit and veg throughout the year, Craigies Farm in South Queensferry will be hosting the Craigies Pumpkin Festival.
Visitors will have the chance to pick their own pumpkins from the patch (with pumpkins purchased at an additional cost), as well as navigating through the twists and turns of the Monster Bale Trail. Offering perfect Halloween fun for the whole family, there’ll also be themed photo opportunities, paintball target shooting (suitable for all ages) and a spooky barrel ghost train.
Craigies Pumpkin Festival runs from 01 October to 31 October 2024.
Balgone Estate
As Scotland’s largest pumpkin patch, not only does Balgone Estate at North Berwick have a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, but it also has a 2km haunted trail with all kinds of ghoulish creatures.
Don’t forgot to stop by the witches’ crooked cauldron for some toasted marshmallows!
And when hunger strikes, fuel up from one of the food and drink vans.
Pumpkins bookings can be made for 12 to 14, 17 to 21 and 25 to 27 October 2024.
Conifox Adventure Park
As part of Conifox Adventure Park’s Halloween Days, pumpkin picking is just one of the Halloween activities on offer.
Pick your perfect pumpkin and have fun with Halloween themed photos, before seeing if you can find all the spooky creatures hidden around the park. If you’ve got any energy left, you can take a spin on the fairground rides or show off your best moves at the devilishly disco.
Halloween Days take place on selected days from 12 to 27 October 2024.
East Links Family Park
Pay a visit to popular 20 acre farm-themed, East Links Family Park in Dunbar this Halloween and not only can you visit a haunted house and take part in a fancy dress competition, but children aged 15 and under will be given a free pumpkin.
