Hosting authors from the world of science fiction, fantasy and horror, the popular Cymera Festival takes over The Pleasance for 3 days of spine-chilling literature.
Each year, CYMERA brings together a wide variety of authors — from established genre giants, to debut authors just hitting the shelves. Visitors can take their pick from panels and book signings, writing workshops, open mics, live performances, bookish quizzes, tabletop gaming spaces and more.
There are several options for supporting new writers such as open mic sessions and the opportunity to read your work aloud. While The Creators Hall is a great place for picking up new work by indie publishers, creators and artists.
Events are either in-person, livestream or digital. Individual tickets, Day and Weekend passes are available. The venue for the festival’s duration is The Pleasance in the Southside area of the city. Lothian Buses routes 14, 29, 30, 33, 37 and 41 all stop on nearby Nicolson Street. It is then a short walk to the venue.
The venue is fully wheelchair accessible with lift access all event spaces (some areas require an access key). For those who appreciate a space to escape the buzz of the festival, a dedicated quite space will be available. More information can be found on access at the festival.
Cymera Festival runs from 05 to 07 June 2026. All tickets should be pre-booked.
