Holyrood Distillery’s expert storytellers have come together to share some spine-chilling tales of local legends, while treating guests to their finest spirits.

Your evening begins with a rum toddy and tales of surgeons, murderers and witches. Then in the Spirits Lab, you’ll discover the sinister history of gin. Mix your own Perfect Specimen cocktail – a nod to Edinburgh’s medical macabre – as your guide shares the gruesome story of Southside’s most notorious murderers, Burke and Hare.

In the Whisky Distillery, taste Black Cork: an experimental spirit inspired by a lost Edinburgh beer, as you hear of medieval alewives accused of witchcraft, and of Scotland’s brewing traditions buried – but not forgotten – under Holyrood’s cobblestones.

The evening concludes in the candlelit Cask Room for a ‘Bothy Session’ with tales of the Wizard of the West Bow, Deacon Brodie, Bald Agnes and the Wee Red Cap, served with a dram of whisky.

The distillery has lift access to all tour areas. Seating is provided throughout the tour route. The service counter in the Visitor Centre shop (check-in desk) is an accessible height for wheelchair users. Fully accessible toilet facilities are available throughout the building.

This event is open to those aged 18+ years only. Further information and booking details can be found on Distillery After Dark.
