Welcoming audiences back to see one of the strongest and most varied short film programmes anywhere, the 2026 edition of the Edinburgh Short Film Festival will feature award-winning shorts from Cannes and Locarno. They’ll also be 27 UK Premieres from film festivals globally, and 29 award-winners screening alongside Scottish films.
The programme also includes guest programmes from international film festivals, including outstanding short film programmes from Tokyo, Regensburg, and Poznan. Plus, cinema goers can enjoy networking events, Q and As and panel discussions, and the return of the regular European Film Festivals night.
All screenings take place at the Filmhouse on Lothian Road. The Filmhouse is wheelchair accessible, and has lifts and disabled toilets. Several of Lothian Buses services stop outside the main entrance. If travelling with Edinburgh Trams, the closest stops are the West End and Princes Street.
The Edinburgh Short Film Festival runs from 06 to 21 November 2026.
