This event launch for the new exhibition Rag: A History of Blood, will begin with a drinks reception, before guests hear from two speakers, Prof Helen King and Prof Marc Turner. Helen will explore the history of menstruation, while Marc will discuss blood transfusion in the 21st century.

The reception will then continue with the opportunity to visit the new exhibition.

Bringing together artefacts spanning scientific illustrations, textile art, interviews, early modern rare books and medicines, Rag: A History of Blood highlights the social, medical and cultural impact of blood. The exhibition will run from 27 February to 16 October 2026.
