This summer, IKEA Museum’s exuberant textile exhibition showcases at Dovecot Studios, following a successful season at the IKEA Museum in Älmhult, Sweden. Featuring 180 iconic fabrics showcasing the rich history of print, pattern and design at IKEA, Magical Patterns will open on Friday 18 July 2025 as part of the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

With 180 designs on display, the exhibition highlights how several artists and designers have been involved with IKEA’s iconic pattern work over the years – from heritage Swedish designers such as Inez Svensson, to modern design icons, including Zandra Rhodes.

Visitors will be able to explore how the iconic Swedish furniture retailer has supported experimental designers over six decades and see the creative process behind successful design. They’ll also be the opportunity to create your own pattern combinations in the pop-up design studio.
