Presenting a fascinating selection of historic and contemporary prints from the City Art Centre’s renowned collection, this new exhibition explores Scottish printmaking.
One of the most richly diverse areas of the visual arts, visitors will be able to see examples of relief printing, intaglio printing, lithography and screen-printing, dating from the 18th century to the present day.
The work of over 30 different artists are represented, including: Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, Victoria Crowe, Anupa Gardner, Jane Hyslop, Eduardo Paolozzi, Anne Redpath, Mabel Royds and William Wilson. Many of the artworks are new additions to the City Art Centre’s collection and are on display for the first time.
Among the highlights are a unique woodcut print of Edinburgh Castle by Mabel Royds, a linocut map of Midlothian by Jane Hyslop, and a vivid screenprint by Wilhemina Barns-Graham, produced when she was in her 80s.
A number of event, such as lectures, talks and tours will be running in conjunction with the exhibition, which runs from 14 September 2024 to 01 June 2025. Find out more and view the full programme of events on Inked Up: Printmaking in Scotland.
