Looking for a new outdoors activity? Something that’s family friendly and gets the kids outside, or that will give you a different type of exercise with a bit of mental challenge? Want to explore new places? Then maybe orienteering is for you!

Orienteering is an adventure sport that exercises both body and mind. Using a map, the aim is to find the best way round a set of check-points. Choose whether to run or walk, compete with others or do it as an individual challenge. Fun for all ages and abilities, with a choice of different lengths and challenges, there’s something for everyone.

Taking place on the afternoon of Saturday 01 March 2025 at Craigmillar Castle Park in Edinburgh, Interlopers Orienteering Club invite anyone interested in trying out the sport to come along to this open event.

A range of courses of different lengths and challenge will be available, including shorter and easier options for children and families. There’s also a longer-easier course that’s ideal for adult newcomers who want a bit more distance for their run or walk. Club volunteers will be on hand to support newcomers.

Enter in advance to guarantee a map; there will be a limited number of maps available on a first-come-first-served basis on the day. Final entries close at midnight on 24 February 2025.

Please get in touch via events@interlopers.org.uk for any queries about accessibility. The event will be held outside in the park and accessed via footpaths from the park entrance point at Castlebrae Avenue.
