This anniversary concert will feature the world premiere of Gemma McGregor’s composition inspired by the Ness of Brodgar in Orkney, and will employ replicas of ancient musical instruments and draw on research into Orcadian and Neolithic music.

Performed by Gemma and a Glasgow-based string quartet, the concert will also include a selection of traditional and contemporary music for the clarsach by Elinor Evans and Stephanie Humphreys from the Clarsach Society, as well as a set of Scottish trad tunes performed by fiddler Ally Douglas. Mezzo Soprano Joyce Byrne will also perform a number of traditional Scottish songs, including some popular Burns pieces.

This event will take place at St. Cecilia’s Music Museum & Concert Hall. The venue, which is on Niddry Street, just off the Royal Mile, has a lift to all areas and an accessible toilet. Assistance dogs are welcome.
