Showcasing musicians either from, or based in Scotland, the 5-day music festival includes some of Scotland’s finest jazz and traditional musicians. Also featured will be a showcase of emerging new musicians, music workshops for adults and young people, and a silent film accompanied by live music.
The Winter Festival kicks off with performances from Edinburgh-based Irish singer Heidi Talbot, who recently won Composer of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards, and Boo Hewerdine, whose songs have been covered by renowned artists and who has a long-standing collaboration with Eddie Reader. They blend folk, Americana, and acoustic pop.
On Friday, Scottish indie duo Sacred Paws, known for their acclaimed debut and SAY award win, perform tracks from their new album featuring dance, chamber pop, and post-punk influences.
Saturday features Edinburgh singer-songwriter Jake Cogan, showcasing material from her career and her upcoming album exploring themes of memory, migration, and Irish tradition.
Sunday celebrates the launch of Matt Carmichael’s new album, blending Scottish folk-jazz with indie influences, with a stellar lineup of musicians.
The festival concludes on St Andrew’s Night with Malin Lewis, known for their Scottish West Coast folk-inspired music, debuting their highly acclaimed album Halocline, inspired by European folk traditions and queerness.
Performances take place at the Traverse Theatre.
