As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, the National Museum of Scotland are running of range of events, all designed to help visitors discover mindful moments throughout the museum’s collection.

With both adults and children in mind, the following events will be available:

  • Free to join, Wellbeing Wanders will take guests on a guided walk around the museum, taking a closer look at some of the exhibits on display. The tour will include mini mindful sessions. Tours will run at 11.30am from 13 to 17 May 2024 and are on a first come, first served basis.
  • Mindful Art at the Museum is suitable for ages 8+ and all levels of artistic ability. Led by an artist and mindfulness practitioner, participants will be introduced to the practice of mindfulness, before creating sketches of the museum’s collection. All materials will be provided. The session takes place on 19 May 2024.
  • Hosted by author and mindfulness teacher Natasha Iregbu, Slow Down Sunday for Families will include a book reading, mindfulness activities, yoga movement and a craft activity. Free, but advance booking required, this event is suitable for children aged 5- 8 years old and runs on 19 May 2024.

All events will be accessible by lift and to participants using wheelchairs or those with mobility issues. Accessible toilets are available on Levels 0 and 3, as well as a Changing Places (U) toilet in the Entrance Hall on Level 0.
