About the Edinburgh International Book Festival

Founded in 1983, the Edinburgh International Book Festival began as a small collection of "meet the author" events in Charlotte Square.  Since then it has grown from strength to strength, with over 700 events taking place each year.

In 2021 the festival relocated to the University's Edinburgh College of Art in Lauriston Place where it recreated its amazing village atmosphere, while also having the facilities to create a world of online events.
