Edinburgh Jazz And Blues Festival 23

Now over 40 years old, this joyful and flamboyant multicultural event is one of the largest jazz festivals in Europe.

Attracting top Scottish bands, international stars, festival favourites and rising stars, this year’s programme includes over 110 concerts in a wide range of styles, from 1920s traditional jazz to electronic blues, as well as curated programmes, free events, and a jazz school.

Making a much-welcome return are the likes of Jools Holland, Ibibio Sound Machine, Hamish Stuart and Pasadena Roof Orchestra, while newcomers taking to the stage include Tcha Limberger, Theon Cross and Popa Chubby.

Festival goers will also be delighted to see the return of the epic Mardi Gras where a host of bands perform on multiple stages. The full line-up will be announced at the beginning of July.

Not to be missed is the gloriously colourful Edinburgh Festival Carnival. Featuring over 1000 performers from across the world, viewers will be treated to a cavalcade of dance, acrobatics, drumming and music. The Carnival programme will be released on 20 June.

Specially designed for young fans, Jazz for Kids presents a series of events covering every area of the city. Sure to entertain, American blues artist Michael Roach will perform in Oxgangs, the all-female New Orleans brass band, The Pinettes, head to Murrayfield, while Scottish saxophonist, Colin Steele will be performing in his hometown of Portobello.
