The UK’s largest Science Festival returns this spring with a jam-packed programme of fun and educational exhibitions, events, workshops, performances & tours.

Taking place in venues across the city, Edinburgh International Science Festival is well known for hosting fascinating science activities alongside serious and provocative debates. With events for all the family, this a great opportunity to  get actively involved in learning about all things science.

And what better way to get involved than to get hands-on! Celebrating the themes of experimentation, innovation, creativity, curiosity, the theme of this year’s festival is Let’s Experiment!

Choose from discussions, debates, workshops, tastings, guided walks, exhibitions and nights out, all with a fun and interesting scientific twist that aim to delight and inspire.

Highlights from this year’s programme include:

Science Festival Late (30 March)– Taking place at City Art Centre, this 18+ years event is the ultimate science party. Dance with a robot, refresh with a drink from the Blood Bar, or dig up a dinosaur! 

Cherish: Shaping Our Planet (23 March - 04 May) – Free to visit, this large-scale outdoor photography exhibition on Portobello Promenade looks at our impact on planet earth.

The Deep Ocean (01 – 04 April) – Suitable for ages 5+, get hands-on and discover more about our incredible oceans. Build mountains and trenches with an AR sandbox and listen to the sounds of the deep. Free with admission to Dynamic Earth.

FutureFest (01 – 02 April) – A celebration of technology, robotics, artificial intelligence, coding, computers and space, this family-friendly, hands-on workshop takes place at the National Museum of Scotland's Grand Gallery. 

BSL Garden Tour (02 April) - Discover the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in British Sign Language (BSL). Explore Spring in the Garden, the diverse Living Collection and the inspiring stories and history of this popular garden.
