What is the Resident Rewards Programme?
We launched Resident Rewards Edinburgh in December 2021 to reconnect residents with their city’s leisure, hospitality and cultural experiences. The programme was developed as a direct response to the 2030 Edinburgh Tourism Strategy that challenges the city to ensure that “Edinburgh’s tourism sector will directly contribute to the quality of life for Edinburgh’s residents”. Building on its success, Forever Edinburgh has secured funding to develop the programme, refresh the brand and expand the targeted promotional campaign to include four new Reward products, so all tourism businesses can get involved and more residents can benefit throughout the year.
Since launching, Resident Rewards Edinburgh (RRE) has seen huge interest from the city’s residents, with the dedicated web page becoming the 4th most popular on Forever Edinburgh, The Official Guide to Edinburgh.
We’re partnered with over 50 tourism business so far, and welcome all hospitality and leisure businesses to join in.
How does it work?
Thanks to funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Forever Edinburgh is offering this programme to businesses for free. A paid campaign is targeting residents with Reward messaging until March 2025. It’s free, simple and quick to join:
- Business can join any and as many of the five Reward categories (see below) for free.
- Terms and conditions are set, within reason, by you.
- The reward needs to be financially viable for your business but also attractive and accessible for the resident
- It is only valid to city of Edinburgh residents.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost to sign up to the Resident Rewards Programme. This project and the marketing campaign have been funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund,.

The Reward Types
Continuing with the Monthly Star Reward, we have introduced four new Reward types to enable more businesses to get involved and increase the offering for residents:
- #1 Monthly Star Reward A continuation of our high-value monthly Reward, which is currently in market: one high-value reward from one business each month, with additional targeted media spend behind this particular reward.
- #2 Resident Previews Residents are invited to view new exhibitions/events/ openings within the tourism sector before anyone else. Like a media launch, but for residents. This will allow residents a first look of what’s happening in the city and be able to give recommendations to friends and family.
- #3 Half Price & Free Days Residents are able to enjoy half price or free entry on certain day(s) of the week/month that suit your business.
- #4 Annual Pass Residents receive a 12 month validity on tickets they buy from signed up partners, making it easier to bring visiting friends and family along for a fun day out without additional expense. They could also pop in throughout the year, creating more repeat and loyal visitors and increasing discretionary spend for in-house cafes and retail.
- #5 Resident Rates An exclusive ‘resident’ ticket price for attractions, experiences and hospitality across the city and throughout the year. Like a set Concession rate
