Case Histories

Follow in the footsteps of Jackson Brodie on the streets of Edinburgh and East Lothian.

Case Histories

Crime drama, Case Histories, from Kate Atkinson’s well-loved novels of the same name, follows crumpled and complex investigator Jackson Brodie as he attempts to unravel disparate case histories in modern-day Edinburgh.

Jason Issacs stars as the former soldier and policeman turned private investigator in this BBC adaptation of Kate Atkinson’s novels. Despite his tough-guy exterior, Jackson Brodie is unable to resist coming to the rescue of survivors of personal tragedies as he takes on their cold cases. Through the moving and often humorous character driven stories, Brodie attempts to bring a resolution to these unexplained mysteries.

Two series were shown on BBC One in 2011 and 2013 with both series set and filmed in Edinburgh. Guest stars have included Victoria Wood, Gary Lewis and James Cosmo.
