Design and decorate a strip of fabric that they will add to their collective costume during the week. There’s also the chance to discover some of the history behind the colourful Carnival costumes.
If you would like a little token of your visit, head over to their Sailor’s Valentine craft to make your own version of this historic Caribbean keepsake made from seashells inspired by their collection.
This event is part of a week celebrating Scottish Caribbean culture and Edinburgh Festival Carnival at the National Museum of Scotland with CaribScotFest and the Edinburgh Caribbean Association. The association was founded by Lisa Williams in 2015 to celebrate and promote the rich heritage of Caribbean culture in Scotland and to bring people and communities together.
