Meet the Makers is a series of workshop opportunities to meet the creative minds behind artworks in the exhibition Earth Matters at Inverleith House at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Each session will be held by a different artist.
Upcoming sessions include:
- Meet the Makers: Fiona Young. 27 August 2026. Explore the process behind Fiona Young’s botanical still-life photography, from sculpting with soil to composing and photographing a finished botanical artwork. Participants will learn how to transform everyday botanical objects into compelling photographic images. Suitable for beginners, with no previous artistic or photographic experience required.
- Meet the Makers: Becky Little. 17 September 2026. Take part in a hands-on workshop with artist and earth builder Becky Little, who will explain how to make Dorodango, the Japanese practice of polished clay spheres. Through a slow, attentive process, the workshop invites close observation of how earth responds to touch, pressure and moisture, revealing the qualities of the material as it changes in your hands.
Each session is priced at £16.96 per person. Weather permitting, each takes place outdoors. Participants should meet at the entrance to Inverleith House. For any access requirements or questions relating to either event, please email creativeprogrammes@rbge.org.uk.
