The Edinburgh Festival is drawing to a close, the kids have gone back to school and we’re fast approaching the end of summer. Don’t despair though, Autumn is a wonderful time to walk around the city and see the sights, as the foliage in the city’s green spaces, tree-lined streets and 112 parks turns a glorious golden brown, adding another splash of colour both above and underfoot. 

If you are in Edinburgh during autumn be sure to check out the International Storytelling Festival which is an autumnal celebration of storytelling - both traditional and contemporary. Autumn also means Bonfire Night on the 5th November, also known as Guy Fawkes Night, this is markerd with fiery celebrations as hosted by Edinburgh Meadowbank Sports Centre.The half-hour fireworks show starts at 7.30pm, with pre-show entertainment from 6.30pm.

What about the weather?

On average, Autumn in Edinburgh can be a little wetter than the rest of the year, but sunshine hours in October reach virtually the same levels as in June and July, leading to long, hazy and pleasantly warm afternoons and evenings, ideal for making the most of Edinburgh’s bustling cafe culture.
