Inspired by historical objects from the museum’s collection, these creative workshops provide the chance to develop your understanding of some of the fascinating exhibits in the museum, and produce your own piece of artwork.

- Creative Workshop: Egyptian Ceramics, 22 August 2026. Writer and ceramicist Mohamed Tonsy explores Egyptian ceramics, and shows how to create your own decorative clay piece to take away.
- Creative Workshop: Drawing the Earth, 12 September 2026. Inspired by the 300th anniversary of James Hutton’s birth, this geology-themed workshop looks at rocks from a scientific and artistic point of view.
- Creative Workshop: Drop Spinning, 26 September 2026. Inspired by the museum’s Scotland’s First Warriors exhibition, learn more about traditional spinning techniques.
All workshops are for participants aged 16+ years old, and are suitable for all abilities and experience levels. All materials will be provided. Each workshop should be booked in advance online.
