Something spooky is coming to Dalkeith Country Park…From daytime adventures through the woodland maze to classic Halloween films under the stars, the park has something for everyone this spooky season.
Suitable for children aged 2 to 12 years old, Rangers of the Radiant Realm is a spooky adventure inspired by the park’s historic setting. Follow the trail, uncover the mystery and complete a mission to protect Dalkeith Palace. The trail is included with a Fort Douglas ticket, giving visitors all-day access to the adventure playground.

After exploring the trail, why not refuel at The Coffee Cabin within Fort Douglas, which will be serving seasonal hot and cold drinks and special Halloween treats.
As night falls, The Big Halloween Screen comes to life, with a line-up of Halloween favourites showing across five evenings. From family-friendly classics including Coco, Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas to cult favourites Practical Magic, Beetlejuice, The Lost Boys and Scream, there’s a film for every kind of spooky season fan. VIP tickets offer the best seats in the house, with a deck chair, prime viewing position and popcorn included. With limited spaces available, all tickets must be booked in advance online.
Plus, visitors heading to The Big Halloween Screen are also encouraged to get into the spirit by dressing up for the occasion, with a chance to win Fort Douglas tickets for a whole year by sharing a Halloween costume photo from their visit.
Dalkeith Country Park’s Halloween Happenings events run from 10 October to 01 November 2026.
The park is around 30 minutes commute from the centre of Edinburgh. Lothian Buses’ services 3, 33 or 49 run a regular service to Dalkeith High Street. It is then a 5 to 10 minute walk to the park.
